Age Concern asked for NHPCSG to go along to their Information Morning held in the Barn at Church Cottage, Basingstoke.  Committee members Keith Bunker, Mike Todd and Richard Holt manned our stand.

The emphasis of the Age Concern event was to highlight risks to older people.  This theme was picked up, for example, by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service who were spreading the message about the need to have smoke alarms and, periodically, to check the batteries.

Our representatives made sure that visitors to our stand were supplied with literature so that they understood the risks of getting prostate cancer. The handouts make sure that men are aware of symptoms. This of course enables them to decide whether or not to consult their GP.

The Mayor of Basingstoke, Cllr Diane Taylor, and her Consort, Dr Andy Taylor, visited our stand.  They were interested in the work of the Group.  The Mayor has kindly agreed to attend our awareness event in the Malls shopping centre on Saturday 2nd November 2019 and we look forward to seeing her again then.
