On Saturday 2nd November the NHPCSG took its prostate cancer awareness stand to Basingstoke shopping malls where we set up outside Boots. We were competing initially with the Rugby World Cup Final, but there was soon an increase in passing shoppers and were joined by Basingstoke’s Mayor Cllr Diane Taylor and her consort.

Cllr Taylor joined members of the NHPCSG in handing out Prostate Cancer UK leaflets about the importance of PSA testing, and later that morning a reporter from the Basingstoke Gazette talked with our Chairman Martin, about the awareness event and the group’s monthly meetings.

There was considerable public interest in PSA testing and we handed out hundreds of information leaflets, with just a few left by the time the event closed at 4:30.

Our thanks go to Keith Bunker, the group’s Publicity Officer, for organising a very successful day, Cllr Diane Taylor, and the many members of the support group who came along to talk with passing shoppers and hand out information leaflets.
