NHPCSG at the Ark – 11 March 2019

Representatives from the group joined with many other local and Hampshire wide volunteer organisations in supporting the Macmillan ‘Living With and Beyond Cancer’ event at the Ark Conference Centre, Basingstoke Hospital, on 11 March.

There were about twelve or so other display tables covering, for example, Wessex Cancer Trust, Basingstoke Sports Centre, Macmillan and Pink Space.

The main events were the presentations dealing with emotional impact of a cancer diagnosis, managing fatigue and the importance of activity and exercise, dietary advice and an opportunity to try out reiki therapy.

These Macmillan events, which we also supported last year, help raise the profile of our group with other similar organisations. Unlike our own awareness events, they are not a platform for educating the wider public about prostate cancer. Nevertheless, the few men who attended at least went away with some PCUK leaflets and information about the group.

The group table was manned by Alan Instone, and Ken Woolgar (as shown in the picture) as well as Iris Woolgar who also acted as camerawoman.
